Write Advice

High school was a long time ago, and for most of us, that was the last time we received any formal training on how to use the English language. And if you were born after 1980, your training probably wasn't all that formal anyway. We all tend to write the way we talk, and we all admit that our talking is getting badder all the time, ya know?

But I am a huge grammar geek. I actually write and diagram sentences for fun. I wouldn't make that up because it is SO lame. I know why you should never be caught with your participle dangling, I don't confuse infer and imply, and I even know what an antecedent is. The rules for formal letter writing, resumes, and reports are my familiar friends. And I have an unnecessarily thorough knowledge of how to format documents using Microsoft Word.

I'm like the Syntax Spiderman: I'm not perfect, but I know that with great power comes great responsibility, so not only do I hold myself to a high standard, but I WANT to pass my knowledge on to you, for the betterment of society as a whole.

So ask your question, any question. If I don't know the answer, I will find it and give the source credit. Let's start making our writing a whole bunch gooder, starting now.
